The mentorship program was set up in collaboration with the Digital Advisory Group to connect our students with industry professionals. The program aims to help students in their transition out of university into the workforce; We match students with industry professionals that are able to offer them advice and support areas such as potential career pathways and direction, personal branding, job search and application strategies, and more.
"Having a mentor has given me the opportunity to grow my confidence and at the same time, develop a better understanding of how agencies operate.. Taking part in this mentor program has given me the opportunity to learn about the role of an Account Manager and to learn how agencies differ in their points of focus. This knowledge has helped me to define and review my own direction within the industry. There have been many moments throughout this program where I have realised the true value of just how important my connections with my mentor, Aimee have been. I was lucky enough to be paired with a mentor that I connected with and have continued this relationship after the completion of the program.”

“I believe I speak for a large portion of undergraduates when I admit that “I have no idea what I am doing”. With little to show in qualifications and experience there is a fair amount of uncertainty for the future when I eventually graduate with my degree. Thankfully I was privileged to meet with my mentor Ricardo, with a vast portfolio of experience and achievements that I could only dream of networking with. Together, we interrogated my vague aspirations, contextualising ‘marketing’ in different industries and business-levels from running my own business to global enterprise companies. By understanding my motivations and what my current strengths and weaknesses are, we were able to describe specifically what career in marketing that most suited me. With my aspirations guided I can now understand what I am doing. Already I feel as though I have an edge against my peers, and I am very grateful for the mentorship opportunity.”

“Being able to shadow Aimee at Dilate Digital has helped me get a better understanding for the numerous roles and positions out there in the marketing and advertising world. I had the pleasure of learning how Account Manager roles work within a fast paced digital agency. In one of our sessions, she sat down with me and helped me map out my 5 year plan, introducing a journaling technique to help me find my WHY. This was super helpful as like most students in Commerce, i was unsure what path i wanted to take post-grad. I think all students would benefit from participating in a Mentorship program if they’re unsure what kind of position/role they want to enter into once graduating. It helps you get a better understanding of an Agency environment, and also looks credible on resumes! I couldn’t recommend Aimee from Dilate enough - she is a passionate and driven marketer who loves transferring all the knowledge she has!”
